Renewal and Self-care: 8 Ways to Take Better Care of Yourself this Weekend

I love Spring, and Easter marks the beginning of it. It’s a time for renewal and fresh starts which makes it a great time to prioritise your self-care routine and take some time for yourself.

Here are some of my favourite ideas for self-care activities for the weekend ahead:

  1. Take a digital detox: Unplug from your phone, computer, and social media for a few hours or even a whole day. Use this time to focus on alternative relaxing activities, like reading a book, taking a walk, or practicing meditation.

  2. Spend time in nature: Easter is a great time to get outside and enjoy the spring weather. Take a hike, go for a bike ride, or have a picnic in a nearby park.

  3. Practice mindfulness: Take some time to slow down and be present in the moment. Try a guided meditation or simply sit quietly and focus on your breath.

  4. Connect with loved ones: Easter is a time to spend with family and friends. Reach out to someone you haven't talked to in a while and catch up over the phone or video chat or maybe a trip to the pub together.

  5. Get creative: Engage in a creative activity that brings you joy, such as painting, drawing, or writing. Use this time to express yourself and tap into your inner creativity.

  6. Try something sensory: a bubbly bath, a massage, or maybe a barefoot walk on the beach

  7. Practice gratitude: Take a moment to reflect on all the things you are grateful for in your life. Write them down or share them with someone you love.

  8. And of course, eat chocolate!

There’s nothing more important than taking care of yourself physically, emotionally and mentally. If you’ve neglected your selfcare recently maybe Easter is the time to kickstart a new routine and commitment. Consistency of selfcare is important, it's the small regular acts that will give you the best results.

And remember, self-care looks different for everyone, so choose activities that resonate with you and make you feel good. Have a great weekend (whenever it arrives for you).
